What Are the Requirements for the ViaBTC Ambassador Program?

To qualify for the ViaBTC Ambassador Program, a registered user must have at least 5 effective referees in the previous month, and each qualifying referee must be a main account with connected mining hashrate. After the application is submitted, ViaBTC normally provides the review result by email within 7 business days. Approved Ambassadors receive a 20% referral ratio while their status remains valid, compared with 10% for General Referral over 12 months. Ambassador status is reviewed continuously: ViaBTC requires at least 10 effective referred users in the current month, and missing that requirement for 3 consecutive months causes the qualification to expire.
ViaBTC separates its referral system into General Referral and Ambassador Referral. A registered ViaBTC user automatically receives access to a referral link or code under General Referral, so there is no separate entry test at that level. Under ViaBTC's Help Center rules updated in 2025, General Referral pays 10% of the corresponding service-fee income generated by qualifying referred miners for 12 months. Ambassador Referral raises the stated rate to 20% while Ambassador status remains valid.
The first numerical requirement appears before an Ambassador application can even be submitted. ViaBTC requires no fewer than 5 effective referees during the previous month. “Effective” does not refer to five people who only created accounts. The official description limits the count to main accounts with hashrate, so registrations that never connect mining equipment do not satisfy the published 5-user threshold. That distinction makes mining activity more relevant than clicks, page visits, or raw sign-up totals.
For example, suppose 18 people use one referral link during a month. If 11 register but only 4 main accounts connect hashrate, the Ambassador requirement has not been met. If 6 separate main accounts connect hashrate, the numerical entry condition has been met, although ViaBTC still reviews the submitted application. The count is based on qualifying mining accounts rather than the 18 people who initially showed interest.
Sub-accounts require separate attention because mining operations often divide workers or facilities between several account structures. ViaBTC states that a main account and its sub-accounts count as one effective referred user when Ambassador qualification is assessed. One mining company operating 1 main account with 20 sub-accounts therefore does not become 21 effective referrals for the 5-user application requirement or the later 10-user monthly assessment.
That counting rule differs from the way referral rewards can be generated. The referral relationship belongs to the main account, but ViaBTC states that the relationship extends to its sub-accounts. If qualifying sub-accounts connect hashrate and generate mining profits, their activity may contribute to referral rewards, excluding merged-mining coins under the published rules. One referred business can therefore contribute activity from several sub-accounts even though it still counts as 1 effective referred user for Ambassador assessment.
A qualifying referral is not simply a registration. ViaBTC requires the referred user to register through the referrer's link or code, connect hashrate, and generate mining profits before referral rewards are allocated.
The registration path also matters. ViaBTC says only users who successfully sign up through the specific referral link or referral code are counted as referrals. Sending a link after a miner has already created an independent account does not establish the same referral relationship under the published rules. For someone planning to reach 5 qualifying miners in one month, correct registration is therefore part of the process rather than an administrative detail.
Hashrate connection is equally relevant after registration. Applicants can compare current mining-pool activity through ViaBTC Pool Hashrate, while their own Ambassador qualification depends on the effective referred-user records shown by ViaBTC. Pool-wide hashrate and Ambassador referral counts measure different things: a large network hashrate number does not substitute for the minimum 5 qualifying main accounts required before application.
The application itself is completed from the Referral Rewards area of the ViaBTC Account Center. Once the account has satisfied the preceding-month condition, the applicant selects the Ambassador application option, provides the requested information, and submits it for review. ViaBTC states that the result is normally sent by email within 7 working days, so reaching 5 referrals does not produce an automatic upgrade at the moment the fifth miner connects hashrate.
The published structure can be compared without treating the 20% figure as 20% of a miner's total mined coins:
| Program | Published referral ratio | Stated period | User-count condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Referral | 10% | 12 months | Open to registered ViaBTC users |
| Ambassador Referral | 20% | While Ambassador status is valid | At least 5 effective referees before applying |
| Ambassador assessment | 20% status continues if qualified | Reviewed during active status | At least 10 effective referred users in the current month |
ViaBTC describes the referral payment as a share of corresponding service-fee income rather than 20% of the referred miner's full mining output. A miner producing $10,000 worth of mining revenue does not therefore create an automatic $2,000 Ambassador payment. The amount depends on applicable service fees, qualifying mining activity, the referral relationship, and the ratio displayed by ViaBTC for the account.
Approval also introduces a higher numerical requirement than the original application threshold. ViaBTC states that an Ambassador should keep no fewer than 10 effective referred users in the current month. The initial 5-user condition determines whether a General Referral user can submit an application; the 10-user figure is used for the continuing Ambassador assessment. Treating both figures as one requirement can lead to incorrect expectations after approval.
ViaBTC does not state that a single month below 10 immediately ends Ambassador status. Its published rule allows a 3-month sequence: if the basic requirement is missed for three consecutive months, Ambassador qualification automatically becomes invalid. An account recording 12 effective users in January, 8 in February, 9 in March, and 11 in April would not complete three consecutive below-threshold months because April returns above 10.
A different sequence produces another result. If an Ambassador records 9 effective users in May, 7 in June, and 8 in July, all 3 consecutive months fall below the published 10-user requirement. Under ViaBTC's stated assessment rule, qualification can then become invalid. Existing referred accounts are moved to the General Referral mechanism, and the standard referral rules apply. ViaBTC also says a former Ambassador may reapply when appropriate.
The difference between 10% and 20% becomes easier to understand through the platform's fee-based description. If qualifying referred mining activity produced $400 in corresponding service fees during an eligible period, a 10% referral ratio would equal $40, while a 20% ratio would equal $80, assuming the full amount qualified under the displayed account rules. The example explains percentage arithmetic only; actual payments depend on ViaBTC's recorded mining activity and applicable fee information.
Payment timing is also specified. ViaBTC's Help Center states that referral rewards are allocated daily at 08:30 UTC+8, although payment delays may occur. The platform also says there is no upper limit on the number of users a person may refer. A participant can therefore refer 6, 60, or 600 users, but only accounts satisfying the referral and mining conditions generate qualifying referral activity.
The absence of a referral-count ceiling does not change the treatment of invalid registrations. ViaBTC reserves the right to cancel referral rewards associated with malicious registrations, and its 2022 Ambassador launch notice states that detected malicious registration can cause the referral relationship to be marked invalid and related rewards to be disqualified. Applicants trying to reach the 5-user or 10-user thresholds therefore need separate genuine mining users rather than multiple artificial accounts.
The program also has a historical distinction worth knowing. ViaBTC launched the Ambassador structure on January 19, 2022, when it announced a 20% Ambassador referral rate and a 10% General Referral rate. The current Help Center documentation continues to show the same 10% versus 20% structure, while the General Referral period is listed as 12 months. The account's live Referral Rewards page remains the appropriate place to confirm the percentage currently applied to a specific user.
Applicants can check their position with a short numerical test before submitting:
-
At least 5 effective main-account referees recorded for the previous month.
-
Each counted referee has connected mining hashrate.
-
Registration took place through the applicant's referral link or code.
-
Main accounts and their sub-accounts are not counted as separate effective users.
-
Application information is submitted through Referral Rewards.
-
Review may take up to the stated 7 business days.
-
After approval, the published assessment level rises to 10 effective referred users for the current month.
A person with 5 qualifying referrals may therefore be eligible to apply but should not assume that maintaining exactly 5 each month will preserve Ambassador status indefinitely. The ongoing published level is 10, twice the entry count, while three consecutive months below that level can end the qualification. The financial difference is also measurable: General Referral is listed at 10% for 12 months, whereas an active Ambassador is listed at 20% for the duration of valid Ambassador status.
